Located behind a secret entrance & nestled in acreage overlooked by towering ancient beech trees and rolling Kent Countryside, The Ham Hideaway glamping retreat is so-named as it is located at Ham, Sandwich. Our site is nestled amongst a maze of rural footpaths and a very short walk from Ham Fen, Kent’s last surviving ancient natural fenland.

Ham Fen is a refuge for very distinctive and rare wildlife including the Eurasian beaver. Following the fantastic work completed by the Kent Wildlife trust to repair the natural fenland environment in 2002 the fenland is now flourishing as are its furry residents. The hideaway is located adjacent to a very busy country hotel The Blazing Donkey.

Sandwich Bay is also within walking distance via a network of picturesque public footpaths making it a very pleasant stroll & the historic market town of Sandwich is not to be missed!

This is a special place, a special experience- and if you are seeking adventure and you are outdoorsy-ish, crave the chance to disconnect from the norm, embrace nature and enjoy the tranquility of being “off-grid” in a beautiful setting then Ham Hideaway Glamping Retreat is for you!

If you want to be a bit (but not too much) on the grid there are Castles a plenty, Cathedrals, the ports of Ramsgate, Dover, and Deal all near with pubs and restaurants.

Kent is also famous for Golf with a number of 'Links' courses which have held major tournaments within a short drive.

All of our tents have been imported from Africa and are designed to withstand the rigors of the outdoors. Each have their own private outdoor area and are spaced out to afford you intimacy. We have only a small number of “prospector” style tents, each sitting on their own wooden platform anchored to the ground.

We’ve cheated a little because you’re not totally off-grid as each tent comes with its own power supply for charging your devices and there’s even broadband! Maid service can even be booked during your stay if required for a small additional cost.

Each of our tents come complete with linen, ultra-plush pillows and duvets. They are all are fully equipped with Bedside tables, Luxury Egyptian cotton towels & bed linen. An Antique Dresser. Inside & outside dining table and chairs, Coffee table, Cutlery, crockery & glassware.

For your convenience, there are Electric points, Heating and are pet friendly (dog beds with chews)

For every arrival, there is Secure private parking with CCTV coverage, high-speed WIFI & a fully catered gourmet menu.

Glampers at Ham Hideaway all have access to their own luxurious shower & vanity cabin with modern toilet facilities. Our thought was that you could be totally immersed in nature, “get dirty”, escape the hustle and bustle of your regular life.

When back at your accommodation you will still be able to freshen up in style and comfort at any time of day-without the need for a dock-leaf to wipe your bottom! In addition every tent has its own luxury toiletries, bed linen and toweling so there no need to bring your own.

Glampers are welcome to enjoy meals and drinks across the field at The Blazing Donkey, a superb family-run pub-eatery run by our good friends. Indeed, Ham Hideaway guests enjoy priority access to the dining, bar and take-away facilities there. Breakfast (which is awesome), lunch and dinner can be booked at special rates as either take-away or eat in. Kids meals are also available.

Alternatively glampers may wish to make use of their own dining area within the Glamping paddock with their own foods and deliveries.

In addition to our modern facilities, glampers at Ham Hideaway have complimentary access to ultra-speed broadband. Our brand new high-speed fibre internet allows for up to 100mbps free of charge for streaming videos & music on the internet and for more everyday tasks such as browsing social media.

Located just behind the main glamping site, our new bar & grill can be exclusively hired for your family, group or party. With a range of draught options including the Brixton Lager, Neck Oil IPA & Old Mount Cider & an open grill, this space can be hired exclusively for your group for your stay and comes complete with a private chef and butler for only £500 (plus the cost of food & drink!)
